Dr. Robert Sigal, MD is a board-certified plastic surgeon with decades of surgical experience who performs MTF breast augmentation, facial feminization surgery and body contouring at Austin-Weston, The Center for Cosmetic Surgery in Reston, Virginia. Education & Plastic Surgery Training

Dr. Sigal completed his undergraduate education at Harvard College and earned his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. He then trained in general surgery at Harbor/UCLA, where he served as Chief Resident.

Following general surgery training, Dr. Sigal spent two years conducting cancer research at the University of Pennsylvania before completing his residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery there. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, National Capital Society of Plastic Surgeons and Medical Society of Virginia, among other professional organizations.

MTF Breast Augmentation

Dr. Sigal performs Breast Augmentation for transgender women seeking increased breast volume and more feminine chest contours. Breast augmentation can be planned according to the patient's existing anatomy and desired breast size and shape.

Facial & Body Feminization

Dr. Sigal's Facial Feminization Surgery options include hairline correction, forehead recontouring, brow lift, rhinoplasty, cheek augmentation, chin recontouring and jaw recontouring. He also performs Tracheal Shave to reduce the prominence of the thyroid cartilage, commonly called the Adam's apple.

For body feminization, Dr. Sigal offers buttock augmentation and body sculpting. These procedures can alter volume and proportions in areas of the body a patient would like to feminize.

Feminizing Surgery Costs & Financing

Current starting prices include:

• MTF Breast Augmentation: $6,700
• Facial Feminization Surgery: $12,050. (Total cost depends on which FFS procedures are performed.)
• Tracheal Shave: $9,500

These estimates are current as of September 2025 and include the surgeon's fee, anesthesia, operating room, recovery garments, and pre- and post-operative visits. Exact costs are determined after consultation.

Payment options include cash, credit card and check, with financing available through CareCredit. Insurance, Medicaid and Medicare are not accepted.

Consultations & Surgery Planning

Dr. Sigal offers both virtual and in-person consultations. The consultation fee is $100 and is applied toward the cost of surgery.

Typical wait times are:

• Consultation: 3-6 weeks
• Surgery: 4-8 weeks after consultation

Surgery Requirements

Requirements for gender-affirming surgery with Dr. Sigal include:

• Medical clearance when required based on medical history
• Smoking cessation for at least one month before surgery
• Applicable WPATH-based surgical criteria
• One or two referral letters from a qualified mental health professional, as required
• Hormone therapy for some procedures, when required under the applicable criteria

Referral documentation includes a psychosocial assessment and diagnoses, clinical rationale supporting the requested surgery, documentation of informed consent and confirmation that the referring professional is available for coordination of care.

Austin-Weston maintains gender-affirming intake and administrative practices, including flexible gender options, separate preferred and legal name fields, procedures for updating names and pronouns, staff training in gender diversity and a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination.
