Dr. Heidi Wittenberg, MD, is an experienced surgeon based in San Francisco who offers Male to Female Gender Reassignment Surgery, more specifically Orchiectomy, Penectomy and Vaginoplasty. Dr. Wittenberg works exclusively with trans and non-binary patients and is the director of MoZaic Care, which specializes in gender affirming genital surgery, and a Founder Surgeon and Co-Director for the first Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) accredited Center of Excellence in Gender Confirmation Surgery, at Greenbrae Surgery Center. She was also awarded the Master Surgeon honor by the SRC. Dr. Wittenberg is the Medical Director of The Gender Institute at Saint Francis Memorial Hospital in San Francisco.
Dr. Wittenberg is a board certified OB/GYN and Urogynecologist. Urogynecologists have additional years of fellowship training in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) and are experts in vaginal reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Wittenberg offers gender-affirming bottom surgery with a number of possible variations. For example, a traditional Penile Inversion Vaginoplasty includes bilateral Orchiectomy, Penectomy with preservation of glans and shaft skin, and penile inversion often with a secondary scrotal graft. For non-binary individuals, Dr. Wittenberg can perform nullification with stand-alone Orchiectomy and/or Penectomy. Dr. Wittenberg also offers Penile-Preserving Vaginoplasty, in which the penis remains in place and the vagina is constructed out of scrotal or other skin grafts or peritoneal tissue.
Dr. Wittenberg also offers Peritoneal Pull Through Vaginoplasty, specifically for patients who require salvage vaginal reconstruction or vaginal length augmentation; need more grafting; are seeking Penile Preservation; or have atrophic anatomy, whether congenital, acquired or as a result of having been on puberty blockers.

How to Book a Consultation for Gender Reassignment Surgery
Dr. Wittenberg is available for in-person (preferred) and phone consultations for a fee of $250. Patients must be 18+ to undergo genital surgery. Dr. Wittenberg follows WPATH guidelines for surgery. You will need to provide 1) two referrals from qualified mental health professionals; and 2) a letter from your hormone specialist stating you have been on 12 months of continuous hormones.
