Contact Dr. Poindexter

Dr. Byron Poindexter, MD is a board-certified plastic surgeon at Austin-Weston, The Center for Cosmetic Surgery in Reston, Virginia. He offers MTF breast augmentation, facial feminization surgery and body contouring for transgender women seeking surgical options to feminize the chest, face and body.

Dr. Poindexter has extensive experience in aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery. His range of feminizing procedures allows patients to discuss breast, facial and body goals with the same surgeon and develop a surgical plan based on the areas they would like to address.

Education & Plastic Surgery Training

Dr. Poindexter earned both his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine from Indiana University, where his undergraduate studies included Chemistry and Psychology. He went on to complete his general surgery residency at the University of Florida followed by a plastic surgery fellowship at the University of Alabama.

He is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Virginia Society of Plastic Surgeons and the National Capital Society of Plastic Surgeons, where he has served as President.

Feminizing Surgery with Dr. Poindexter

Dr. Poindexter offers several types of gender-affirming plastic surgery for transgender women:

  • Breast Augmentation
  • Facial Feminization Surgery
  • Buttock Augmentation
  • Feminizing Body Sculpting
  • Gender-Affirming Liposuction and Fat Transfer

His facial procedures can address the forehead, brow, nose, cheeks, lips and chin. For body feminization, liposuction and fat transfer can be used to change body contours, including adding volume to the hips and buttocks.

MTF Breast Augmentation

Dr. Poindexter performs Breast Augmentation with either silicone or saline breast implants. Breast augmentation increases breast volume and can be used to create fuller breast contours as part of gender-affirming surgery.

Facial & Body Feminization

Facial Feminization Surgery with Dr. Poindexter can include several procedures selected according to the facial features a patient wants to change. Options include hairline advancement, forehead recontouring, brow lift, rhinoplasty, cheek augmentation using implants, fillers or fat grafting, lip lift, and chin recontouring or augmentation.

For patients interested in body feminization, Dr. Poindexter uses liposuction and fat transfer to alter the distribution of fat and reshape body contours. Fat can be transferred to the hips and buttocks to add volume and create different proportions through the lower body.
